a post by NY Jedi
"How did you guys get all this together? How can I have a Jedi group in my area?"

A question far too often asked. Ok, here's how you do it.

FIRST OF ALL!!!! And do not skip this part, oh nobly born. You must have Passion for the Blade. To wield it,to feel it and understand it. To be it and let it be you. The art is not about killing per se, it's about awareness. You should dance with your sword.

If you think I'm being over-exuberant, you're a Pimp who has no knowledge of your true potential.

When wielding a saber, you are creating a reaction to objects or persons within the reach of your personal space that may or may not have the intention of distruping your personal existance. You need to respond in any case.

Be excited about the project idea and figure it will take about a year to get a LARGE group of people involved. This will let you set your pace. A SERIOUS sparring partner (There could be only 1) may appear on the first day saying "Oh my God, I've been looking for this for EVER!!!!" And you will have many joyous interactions! THAT will attract others. People love and are attracted to strong, positive energy.

Then it's time to Organize!

Create a way for people to communicate and mingle. Make posters saying "We'll be behind the 7/11 with our Sith Sabers. Meet us at 11pm - SHARP!!!!" Get flyers printed, post ads, get on local martial arts or stage combat group web boards. There's SO much stuff that's now Internet based! Tell your Martial Arts class you have a "private club of Jedi's." Oh, they'll show up!(we're still working on Lucas, hheeee heeee....)

Create flyers and pass them out to all RELATABLE venues: I.E. comic book shops, martial arts & supply places, toy stores, etc. Especially any place that carries the FX sabers. Built-in demand right there.

That's where it starts, then they will find you. It really is like that: If you build it, they will come. How do you think nyjedi.com got here! It's all you PEOPLE!

Character Creation
After mulling it over I've decided to create a dark Jedi character, I figure this will be the most fun! I've already got a glorious cloak, several lightsabers (well, ok 6) and the boots to go with it! Since I'm not doing a Sith I won't have to be married to a red lightsaber blade which will give me more options as far as which lightsaber I can use. I don't think I'll go with completely cannon robes, but something similar.

I'll post pix of my lightsaber and cloak sometime tomorrow so people can see what I've done so far.

Anyone else pondering their characters or anything?
